Rosewood Hotels CEO Sonia Cheng named to tourism role

New World Development director Sonia Cheng Chi-man, the daughter of chairman Henry Cheng Kar-Shun, and the sister of  executive vice-chairman and chief executive, Adrian Cheng Chi-Kong, has been named a member of the Hong Kong Tourism Board.

She oversees the hotel division and the project management division of the group.

She is the chief executive of Rosewood Hotel Group and chairman of the advisory committee of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Cheng is also a director of New World China Land and a non-executive director of Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group.

The government also announced the re-appointments of Margaret Fong Shun-man, Jason Shum Jiu-sang, Joyce Tam Joy-yee and Jason Wong Chun-tat as members of HKTB.

The commissioner for tourism is also re-appointed as a member and the deputy chairman of the HKTB, while the deputy commissioner for tourism is appointed as an alternate member for the commissioner for tourism.
