Higos tracks closer to city, MTR operations normal

Severe tropical storm Higos was estimated to be about 130 kilometres south-southeast of Hong Kong and is forecast to move northwest or west-northwest at about 20 kilometers per hour towards the coast of western Guangdong, the Hong Kong Observatory says in the latest update.

The MTR Corp said rail and MTR bus services remain normal.

Macau's Weather Bureau announced that the tropical storm Signal 8 will be raised between 10:00pm and 02:00 am.

In the past hour, the maximum sustained winds recorded at Tate's Cairn, Waglan Island and Cheung Chau Beach were 78, 68 and 47 km per hour with maximum gusts exceeding 96, 83 and 59 km per hour respectively.
