Sun Hung Kai Properties has denied rumors that a project in Tuen Mun has suspended construction, saying plans are merely being adjusted according to market changes.
The project is jointly developed by SHKP and Hanison Construction.
Due to market changes, SHKP is changing designs, which is leading to adjustments to construction plans, the developer said. But SHKP said there is a possibility some parts of the project may be suspended and it will submit an application for the new designs to the government at an appropriate time.
The developer also said it has not terminated any staff due to the adjustments and those affected will be assigned to other projects.SHKP and Hanison were required to pay HK$2.68 billion of land premiums for the project, which has a plot area of 236,990 square feet and a maximum gross floor area of 613,570 sq ft, according to an agreement reached in 2021. Hanison holds a 24.82 percent stake. The partners plan to build seven residential buildings in two phases that will offer 1,326 units, and two clubs of about 24,600 sq ft, according to the application submitted to the Town Planning Board.
The project, located at the junction of So Kwun Wat Road and Kwun Chui Road, is adjacent to SHKP's Avignon, whose residents started moving in 2011.themis.qi@singtaonewscorp.com
