Hong Kong’s sole railway operator said all of its platforms on the East Rail Line will have screen doors installed by the end of next year.
The MTR Corporation will begin installing screen doors at Fanling, Fo Tan, Tai Wo, and Kowloon Tong stations in the coming six months, while installation at Lo Wu, University and Mong Kok East stations will begin in the fourth quarter of this year.
Currently, installation work is underway at Tai Po Market, Sheung Shui, Tai Wai and Sha Tin stations.
The railway operator said its crew is making use of the two-hour golden window of nontraffic hours to undertake the installations, while installation work on the backup platforms will be carried out during the daytime, in a bid to finish all installations within 2025.
