The MTR Airport Express and Tung Chung Line were temporarily affected due to “a person on the track” at Lai King Station on Friday morning.
It was learned that at 10.44 am, a person had entered the Lai King Station track area, causing service delays.
Trains on the Airport Express and Tung Chung Line had to slow down and operate at 10- to 15-minute intervals, with passengers urged to account for additional commuting time.
The deadline for the In-town Check-in Service was also extended from 90 minutes to 120 minutes ahead of the scheduled flight departure time.
Shortly before 11 am, the rail giant announced that the incident had been effectively handled and services gradually returned to normal.
Police spokesman said that at 10:19 am, they received a report that someone was seen on the track at Lai King Station and was heading towards Nam Cheong Station.
MTR staff and police officers were alerted to the scene. Searching the track, they later found a person at Nam Cheong Station and brought them to the platform.
