The Hong Kong Arts Centre (HKAC) has announced that its “Collect Hong Kong” Art Fair will become a regular event and return this March as part of the city’s Art March calendar, presenting a newly curated format that traces Hong Kong’s art stories across generations.
HKAC revealed that the fair will debut four themed exhibition zones and showcase works by both established masters and emerging artists, marking a new chapter for the local art scene.
Building on the success of last year’s inaugural edition, “Collect Hong Kong” Art Fair 2026 has received 1,257 artwork submissions, with participation from 530 local artists, surpassing last year’s figures, according to HKAC. Among them, more than 280 artists are taking part through Friends of HKAC and are not affiliated with supporting art institutions or academies, representing a fivefold increase in this category.
Peter Lau, Chairman of the Board of Governors of HKAC, said the center aims to provide a platform that connects artists, collectors, and the public.
“The Hong Kong Arts Centre has always championed the advancement of arts and culture. Our mission is to create a diverse and inspiring platform for local artists and collectors from around the world to connect and exchange ideas. Through this flagship event, we hope to cultivate a deeper public interest in art collecting, share the stories of Hong Kong through artistic expression, and continue to showcase the city’s unique cultural identity.”
Raymond Fung, Member of the Board of Governors and Chairman of the Arts Programme Committee, described the fair as significant to Hong Kong’s position as an Asian art hub.
“As Hong Kong is perceived an Asian art hub, the ‘Collect Hong Kong’ Art Fair 2026 holds profound significance for the development of Hong Kong’s art ecosystem. It is not only a stage for showcasing creative achievements, but fosters intergenerational dialogue, enabling emerging artists to learn from established masters.”
This year’s fair is curated by art consultant Gary Mok Wai-hong, who has introduced a four-zone structure: Collectors’ Choice, Esteemed Circle, Jury’s Choice, and Collective Horizons. The zones will present works from private collectors, veteran artists from the 1970s and 1980s, emerging gallery artists, shortlisted open-call entries, and forward-looking works selected by expert judges.
Mok said the fair is conceived as an experiential guide for audiences interested in collecting Hong Kong art.
“Hong Kong is a city of boundless creativity, ‘Collect Hong Kong’ Art Fair 2026 is carefully curated and compiled as an experiential ‘Collecting guidebook’ for audiences and art lovers who wish to collect Hong Kong art. We hope that in the future each city’s art history will be arranged like a local gazetteer, using visual records rather than words to document the development of civilisation.
“Through curating these four themed zones, we bring together intergenerational narrative of Hong Kong, allowing audiences to see the artists’ talent, cultivation, sincerity, and how their artworks reveal personal pursuits or social responsibility. By engaging with the artworks and participating in dialogue, we aim to nurture a discerning eye and growing interest in art collecting—bringing art into everyday life.”
“Collect Hong Kong” Art Fair 2026 will take place from March 21 to 29. HKAC said the fair aims to serve not only as a platform for local artists, but also as a bridge for international cultural exchange, inviting audiences to experience the diversity and evolving stories of Hong Kong through art.
