The Clansmen Associations Hometown Market Carnival is set to return to Victoria Park from June 1 to 5, showcasing over 1.1 million local snacks, specialties and traditional crafts from various Chinese provinces and nearly 200 cultural performances.
Co-organized by about 30 clansmen associations for the third consecutive year, this year's carnival will include nearly 300 booths, along with a familiar "food street" to allow visitors to experience different cultures by savoring hometown delicacies ranging from Huainan beef soup and Shaanxi street food – Roujiamo.
The celebration also expands beyond traditional flavors, introducing a technology innovation zone and a sports experience area. The new tech area will offer activities featuring AI technology and VR experiences, along with interactive robots and robotic dogs to engage younger attendees.
As the National Games approach, visitors can participate in various VR sports experiences in the sports zone to learn more about various sports.
Sze Ching-lau, the vice-chairman of the working committee for the fair, stated that the carnival intends to provide a platform for citizens to obtain deeper insights into the local culture and the nation's development.
Through these cultural experiences, Sze expressed hope to enhance attendees' spirit of patriotism.
The event will be open from 11am to 9pm for the first four days and from 11am to 6pm on the final day, with an admission fee of HK$5.
Meanwhile, children under 1.2 meters in height, seniors aged 60 and above with a JoyYou Card, and individuals with disabilities can join the carnival free of charge.
