Hong Kong is in the midst of a “Super October” for tennis — a month brimming with world-class talent, cultural exchange, and sporting excitement.
Just days after Latin American ace Francisco Cerundolo, Hong Kong crowd favourite Andrey Rublev, and local rising star Coleman Wong lit up the court at Asia’s premier UTS competition, the city welcomed another wave of tennis royalty: World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka, legendary Andre Agassi, and rising star Anna Kalinskaya.
Hosted by the Hong Kong, China Tennis Association (HKCTA), the trio’s visit combined athletic excellence with a taste of Hong Kong’s vibrant culture.
For Sabalenka and Kalinskaya, it was their first opportunity to explore the city beyond the tennis court — and they did so in quintessential Hong Kong style.
Harbour cruise and island escape
The two tennis stars began their journey aboard a private Victoria Harbour cruise, soaking in the city’s glittering skyline and its signature blend of modern energy and timeless charm.
Their adventure continued on Lamma Island, where they strolled through traditional fishing villages, hiked scenic green trails, and dined on freshly caught seafood — all while immersing themselves in the island’s tranquil pace of life.
“I’m utterly captivated by Hong Kong’s perfect blend of urban sophistication and natural wonders,” Sabalenka shared with a smile. “From the dynamic cityscape to the serene countryside and beautiful harbours, I’ve completely fallen in love with this amazing city. I truly hope to return soon — and maybe even compete here in the future.”
Agassi’s pickleball passion
Meanwhile, tennis legend Andre Agassi, now an active ambassador for pickleball, brought his trademark charisma to a special exhibition session organized by HKCTA. Set against the dramatic backdrop of Victoria Harbour, Agassi showcased his refined pickleball skills and expressed optimism about the sport’s growth potential in Hong Kong.
“Hong Kong has all the right ingredients — enthusiasm, community, and passion for racket sports,” Agassi said. “It’s the perfect place for pickleball to thrive.”

Inspiring the next generation
For Anna Kalinskaya, the visit was both cultural and purposeful. Ahead of her appearance at the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open 2025, she led an exclusive training session with 30 young athletes from Hong Kong’s National Training Squad.
With her trademark warmth and focus, Kalinskaya offered technical advice and motivation to the aspiring players, encouraging them to “dream big and work hard.”
