Hong Kong's "Wonder Boy" Rex Tso returned to professional boxing after an eight-year hiatus with a technical knockout victory against Philippine boxer Vergilio Silvano on Sunday. The 35-year-old Filipino opponent was unable to continue after being knocked down in the fifth round of their six-round bout held in the Philippines.
Tso, who maintained his undefeated professional record of 23-0, became emotional after the fight, shedding tears of joy. "This is what real boxing feels like," he expressed post-match, acknowledging his journey back to professional boxing since resuming training in March. The local star emphasized his commitment to continuous improvement, particularly in physical conditioning and offensive techniques.

The match saw relatively even exchanges through the first three rounds before Tso gained advantage in the fourth round with a powerful strike that destabilized his opponent. Early in the fifth round, another heavy punch sent Silvano to his knees, prompting the referee to stop the contest.
Tso's return marks a significant comeback since his controversial 2017 victory against Japan's Kohei Kono, after which he transitioned to amateur boxing including participation in Paris Olympic and Hangzhou Asian Games qualifiers.
In a separate bout on the same card, Hong Kong's rising boxing talent Lokmond Ngan also secured a technical knockout victory against Bryan Ascano of the Philippines in the third round, preserving his undefeated professional record and advancing to 5-0. The promising fighter humbly noted he had initially anticipated winning by points rather than knockout.
