3,000 jobs up for grabs at education/career expo

Students and job seekers can visit for free an education and careers expo that the Hong Kong Trade Development Council is organizing from January 25 to 28.

Over 800 institutions from 17 countries and regions will gather at the Convention and Exhibition Centre to offer information on further studies and more than 3,000 job opportunities.

The expo will be divided into education and careers sections.

Students and parents can get information about local and overseas programs at the education-themed zones.

There will be four zones - local studies; overseas, mainland and Macau education; lifelong learning; and youth.

Local universities and tertiary institutions setting up booths at the local studies zones include the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Vocational Training Council, as well as three private universities - Shue Yan, Hang Seng and Saint Francis, which just got upgraded last week from Caritas Institute of Higher Education.

Those looking abroad can seek overseas education consulting services for 16 countries and regions, including Europe, America, Asia and mainland.

People looking for continuing education can visit the lifelong learning zone, where they can find courses like technology education, while youngsters can visit the youth zone for information on continuing education and career planning, including summer jobs, internship opportunities and full-time positions.

Job seekers can visit career-themed zones with resumes.

Banks, insurance companies and the professional services sector are among those behind the more than 3,000 job opportunities on offer.

Some 18 government departments and nine public organizations will also be there

Job search platforms and employers from both the public and private sectors will take applications from graduates, entry-level job seekers and experienced professionals at the recruitment square in the expo and conduct on-site interviews.

The expo will also have more than 100 stimulating activities including sharing sessions from representatives of the performing arts, smart agriculture, and start-ups, etc.

TDC assistant executive director Jenny Koo Jing-man said: "Serving as a comprehensive one-stop platform, the expo enables students to engage exhibitors directly. This not only fosters a more profound understanding of both local, mainland and international study programs and considerations but also aids students in identifying suitable academic institutions."
