To identify the best treatment timing for diseases like dementia, it is essential to detect symptoms early and conduct a thorough diagnosis.
The Asia Pacific Institute of Healthy Ageing, founded by Chinese University professor Timothy Kwok Chi-yui and Virtus Medical Group last year, takes the screening, monitoring and personalization approach to help our seniors maintain a healthy balance in mind, body and spirit.
The initiative ultimately aims to delay aging and ensure a healthy later life.
"Our primary goal in establishing the institute is to prevent chronic illnesses, allowing people to live healthily," Kwok said."This is particularly crucial given that Hong Kong is facing the pressing challenge of an aging population; many health issues stem from aging, which increases demand for elderly care."
With current health care prioritizing treatment over prevention, Kwok said, the aim is to create a platform that revolutionizes healthy aging by offering personalized, evidence-based, and accessible preventive health care for all.
