Caring for the needy together

The Hong Kong Jockey Club volunteer team turned out in force for the 20th annual Together We Care programme in support of families in need and the elderly across Hong Kong yesterday.

Initiated by the Hong Kong Elite Athletes Association and co-organized by the Hong Kong Young Women's Christian Association, over 160 members of the CARE@HKJC team joined other volunteers and elite athletes in delivering goody bags to some 2,800 people in need. A launch ceremony was held at Po Leung Kuk Riverain Primary School yesterday. Officiating guests included Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Kevin Yeung Yun-hung, Commissioner for Sports George Tsoi Kin-pan and the club's executive director of corporate affairs Raymond Tam.

The theme this year is "Jointly spreading warmth in the community."

Tam said the club is dedicated toward the betterment of society and keen to continue working hand in hand with athletes and citizens to foster a spirit of togetherness in the community.
