Garuda offers special cut-price flights to Jakarta

Garuda Indonesia, the country's flagship carrier, will cut its price for a flight between Hong Kong and Jakarta by over 20 percent, from around HK$3,700 to under HK$2,900.

Hongkongers should place their order before Sunday in order to enjoy the discount, while the departure date can be any day from now until November 19 next year, which includes Christmas and the Lunar New Year long holidays.

Garuda Indonesia is holding a seven-day online promotion, "Garuda Indonesia Travel Fair, The Biggest Travel Deal," in Hong Kong for the first time since yesterday, offering discounted tickets to Indonesia.

"We hope that through this event, we can increase awareness of Indonesia and stimulate the tourism industry there," said Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, minister of tourism and creative economy of the Republic of Indonesia.

The promotion is applicable to five destinations in Indonesia, including Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Bali, and Manado.

Economy class round-trip tickets from Hong Kong to Jakarta start at HK$2,897; Hong Kong to Yogyakarta start at HK$3,653; Hong Kong to Surabaya start at HK$3,871; Hong Kong to Bali start at HK$4,071; and Hong Kong to Manado start at HK$4,882, all prices inclusive of taxes. Tickets can be purchased via Garuda Indonesia's official website, FlvGaruda and Livin' Sukha's Livin' mobile apps, and travel agencies until Sunday, with travel dates beginning now until November 19, next year.

The airline currently offers one daily round-trip flight between Hong Kong and Jakarta, with passengers able to connect to various popular destinations across Indonesia.

Bali is popular among travelers and top destination for Hongkongers. According to the Indonesian government, over two million global tourists visited Bali last year.

Manado, on the other hand, is a spectacular diving destination. The promotion aims to attract travelers who enjoy marine life and water activities.

Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, is a populous metropolis with iconic landmarks such as Monas (National Monument), Merdeka Square, National Museum, Istiqlal Mosque and Jakarta Cathedral.
