Making connections in a bus seat

Kowloon Motor Bus passengers will soon be riding along with some high-tech companionship.

For executives of the transport giant announced yesterday that free 5G Wi-Fi and also monitors showing the number of vacant seats on upper decks are to become features on all buses.

Unlimited free 5G Wi-Fi will be made available gradually as a vehicle enhancement program kicks in.

The bus-load information system, meanwhile, will keep track of the number of vacant seats on upper decks with a monitor near the staircase showing the vacant seat situation. So no more climbing stairs in wasted efforts.

"We hope to encourage passengers to take seats upstairs while avoiding unnecessary ups and downs," KMB explains.

KMB also announced an update to its App 1933 to show loading information on buses. App users can check capacity of an approaching bus along with the estimated arrival time.
