Extra night safety for girls

Girls are set to get guardians to escort them home at night, thanks to the new Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Alice Mak Mei-kuen, pictured.

She is busy establishing "district care teams," which were mentioned in the manifesto of Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu.

"I hope the members of the district care teams can not only join volunteer services, but also care about residents in the community for a long time," Mak said yesterday.

"I remember many local residents would escort girls home at night to protect them in the past. I hope that we can reestablish this spirit of neighborhood care in our community."
