Hot spot for Gigi and team

The winner from TVB reality show and singing competition STARS Academy, Gigi Yim Ming-hay, teamed up with fellow contestants in a girl band performance resembling that of K-pop group Blackpink at the MacPherson Stadium in Mong Kok.

The 16-year-old, in her signature baby bangs, sprang a surprise on stage with her three close friends, Chantel Yiu Cheuk-faye, Yumi Chung Yau-mei and Windy Zhan Tianwen, on the first day of the show's graduation showcase.

The Hong Kong Blackpink in purple rocked the stage with Chotto, one of the great hits from Cantopop diva Sammi Cheng.

Cantopop singer Joey Wong, known by her stage name JW, had been coaching the girls and enjoyed the show so much that she welcomed the quartet to debut as an idol group.

The reality show ended last month but the fans' never-ending love brought a crash to the ticketing system, and encouraged the organizer to extend the show for two more days as all tickets sold out in half an hour.
