A four-vehicle crash involving two buses occurred on Yuen Long Highway near Pok Oi Hospital in the Tuen Mun-bound lanes at around 7pm Friday (Mar 13).
The accident involved a truck, two buses and a private car. Police and firefighters rushed to the scene and laid yellow and green mats on the ground to help sort and treat the injured. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Some lanes of Yuen Long Highway were closed during the incident, and the slip road leading to the Shap Pat Heung Interchange was also shut, causing severe traffic congestion. As of 8.15pm, the traffic queue stretched more than 6 kilometers to Mai Po San Tsuen.
Bus operator KMB said the buses involved were on routes 276B and 269B.
Preliminary information showed that 20 passengers and a bus captain suffered minor injuries. The company has suspended the bus captain from driving duties and will visit the injured while investigating the incident.
