MTR’s “Year of the Horse Lucky Spin” promotion continued to draw long queues at Admiralty Station on Thursday, as commuters lined up to spin for prizes including coupons, discounts, free rides, and a chance to win a smartphone.
The excitement began after a photo posted online showed about 20 people in a "mysterious long queue" snaking in front of a machine at the station. The post quickly drew responses from netizens, who explained the crowd was for the "Year of the Horse Lucky Draw."
Prizes on offer include MTR points, Airport Express ticket discounts, free MTR rides, and e-vouchers. Every participant is automatically entered into a grand draw with top rewards such as a new smartphone, an MTR annual free pass, or shopping coupons from MTR malls.
Participants have taken to social media to share their results, with many expressing pleasant surprise. "I won 1,888 points," one user said, while another commented, "I thought I wouldn't win anything, but it turns out you actually can."
According to the MTR website, the lucky draw runs from February 15 to 26, and each mobile number can participate once per day.
To join, commuters must visit one of the designated stations—Quarry Bay, Kai Tak, Lo Wu, Austin, Airport, Central, Admiralty, Tsim Sha Tsui East, or Causeway Bay—and interact in person with the AI virtual service ambassador Tracy.
Participants say “Happy Year of the Horse” in English or Cantonese clearly to Tracy, spin the on-screen wheel, then scan the QR code with their phone to view the result.
