An off-duty auxiliary policeman has been charged with possessing a prohibited weapon after a flick knife was found on him during airport security screening last year.
Police received a report from airport staff on November 8 that a 12.5cm flick knife was discovered on a 54-year-old man during a routine security check. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a prohibited weapon.
Following investigation and legal advice, the man was charged with one count of possession of a prohibited weapon. His case will be heard at West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts on Thursday.
The man, an auxiliary policeman attached to Tseung Kwan O district, has been suspended from duty. Police said the force attaches great importance to the conduct of its personnel and will not tolerate or condone any illegal acts by officers.
