Commissioner of Police Joe Chow Yat-ming presented awards to 64 individuals and 19 organizations at the Cyber Security Professional Awards 2025 today, recognizing outstanding contributions to protecting Hong Kong’s digital infrastructure.
The ceremony, organized by the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) and co-organized by the Digital Policy Office (GovCERT.HK) and the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKCERT), highlighted the growing importance of cyber security amid rapid technological advances.
Chow described a robust cyber environment as essential for supporting innovation, smart city development, and the digital economy, as well as safeguarding social operations, economic growth and national security.
Launched in 2016 and now in its fifth edition, the program promotes professional excellence, knowledge sharing, and cross-sector collaboration to strengthen Hong Kong’s overall cyber defense capabilities. This year saw record participation, with 219 nominations from 140 organizations.
Individual awards went to 64 professionals from various sectors for their sustained excellence and contributions.
Four new institutional categories were introduced, with 19 awards given for core partnership, defense strategy collaboration, outstanding contributions, and international efforts in supporting law enforcement, public-private cooperation, and regional resilience.
The event also included the second appointment ceremony for the Cyber Security Action Task Force, led by polic,e and expanded this year to 12 leading local and international organizations.
The group will enhance rapid intelligence sharing, training, public awarene,ss and service provision to bolster Hong Kong’s collective response to cyber threats.
