These institutions include the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital, Shenzhen New Frontier United Family Hospital and Zhongshan Chen Xinghai Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine.
After submitting the application, users will receive an “Authorisation QR Code” in the mobile app. When seeking consultation at the designated hospitals, they can present the code along with their Hong Kong ID card to local healthcare personnel for identity verification and authorization.
A spokesperson for the Health Bureau stated that this updated feature will help store high-resolution radiology images that are often challenging for citizens to upload themselves, compared to the current option, which allows users to manually deposit their medical records in their personal eHealth accounts.
In addition to accessing the relevant records via the mobile app, citizens can also authorize healthcare providers in Hong Kong to retrieve the records through the eHealth system during follow-up care.
