Three workers were injured, one of whom later died, at a construction site on Po Fung Road in Tsuen Wan on Wednesday afternoon (Jan 14) after gas cylinders fell from a height.
At around 1.34 pm, a crane was lifting three gas cylinders to an upper level when they apparently became unstable and fell, striking the workers before they could move out of the way.
According to sources, two workers were knocked unconscious. A 29-year-old suffered a head injury with bleeding and was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital, where he later died despite rescue efforts. A 40-year-old sustained a leg injury and was also taken to the same hospital.
A 50-year-old worker twisted his ankle and was conscious when taken to Yan Chai Hospital.
Two of the cylinders measured about 153 cm by 21 cm, and the third was around 100 cm by 25 cm. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
