The Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo, which ran for 24 days, concluded on Monday, with shoppers arriving with suitcases and trolleys to snap up last-minute bargains.
A shopper expected to spend around HK$3,000 on items such as fish maw and canned abalone, while a second-time visitor mentioned having already spent over HK$7,000.
A staff member from a dried seafood store said they had participated in the fair for eight consecutive years, with the goal of tapping into the Hong Kong Island market.

The staff member also viewed the event as a way to connect with the local community. However, due to a surge in travel during the long holiday, their business this year dropped by about 10 percent.
A wine merchant said the expo enjoyed a strong reputation and that their business had exceeded expectations, requiring several restocks. They projected a six-figure turnover with a modest profit.
This year's expo featured over 900 outdoor stalls. Admission was HK$10, with free entry for children, seniors aged 65 or above, and persons with disabilities.
On the final day, the expo closed early at 8pm, with last admissions at 7pm.
