Ma Wan residents' bus window shatters mid-route, injuring one

A window on the route NR331S bus was shattered while travelling from Ma Wan to Tsuen Wan on Tuesday, injuring a passenger's finger with glass shards.

According to a Facebook post, the incident occurred as the bus was driving to the footbridge at Tai Ho Road in Tsuen Wan, when a glass panel near the middle door suddenly shattered. 

The shards injured the finger of a passenger sitting nearby, while the photos from the scene show glass fragments scattered throughout the cabin, covering the floor and seats in pieces. 

Ma Wan residents expressed safety worries, noting the absence of first-aid kits on board and the lack of immediate help for the injured.

They labelled it a hidden risk for riders and called on operator Sun Bus Limited to explain publicly and compensate the victim.

In response to media inquiries, the operator confirmed the incident, stating the passenger suffered a minor hand injury and departed the scene without assistance.

The driver has returned the bus to the depot for a safety inspection, and the cause of the incident remains under investigation.
