Officers from the Kowloon West Emergency Unit were tracking a suspicious private car during an anti-drug operation at around 4pm. When police attempted to stop the vehicle at the junction of Tung Chau Street and Nam Cheong Street, the driver suddenly reversed at speed, crashing into a police car in an apparent bid to flee.
The vehicle lost control and came to a stop blocking the road. Both occupants abandoned the car and ran. The female passenger was arrested at the scene, while the male driver was later apprehended near Tung Chau Street Park. During the chase, an officer was reported to have drawn his firearm.
Police seized dozens of suspected etomidate pills from the vehicle, which is believed to have been used as a mobile drug delivery operation.
Both suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
