Deputy Director of the Liaison Office Liu Guangyuan condemned those who have attempted to exploit the tragic fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po to incite social division in Hong Kong. Liu emphasized that such actions would not be tolerated and could result in legal consequences for those involved.
Liu's remarks came during a seminar on Constitution Day organized by the SAR government and the Liaison Office. He criticized the spread of misinformation by anti-China and destabilizing forces after the fire, asserting that their distortion of facts would be met with strong societal condemnation.
He further highlights the role of the Constitution in safeguarding the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, reinforcing that it provides the legal framework necessary for Hong Kong's integration into this national process and enhances the region's institutional strengths.
Regarding the Legislative Council elections proceeding as scheduled, Liu expressed confidence that with the joint efforts of all parties, the city could successfully handle both disaster relief and the elections.
