A licensed Hong Kong travel agency has shut down without providing the legally required notice, affecting around 1,500 customers.
Lucky Holiday informed the Travel Industry Authority on Monday of its intention to cease operations effective Tuesday, failing to give the mandated 14-day written notice. The agency's sudden closure involves approximately HK$1.7 million in customer payments.
The authority has initiated license revocation procedures and directed the company to handle existing bookings and refunds. Investigations are underway for potential violations of the Travel Industry Ordinance, with possible prosecution and referral to law enforcement for suspected fraud.
The agency operated under names including "Charming China" and "Charming Tour" with branches across Hong Kong.
