SPCA confirms 45 pets perish, 339 affected in Tai Po fire

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) confirmed that at least 45 pets were killed in the tragic No 5 alarm fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po. 

It has compiled figures from various volunteer groups and noted that the blaze has impacted a total of 339 animals.

In an ongoing effort to aid the rescue, the society has worked closely with the Fire Services Department and managed the rescue of 136 animals. Among these, 45 were unfortunately found deceased.

The rescued animals include cats, dogs, birds, turtles and others, and all of which will be transferred to the SPCA or other animal welfare groups for further treatment and care.
