In a development following the deadly Wang Fuk Court blaze on Wednesday, two key figures from the renovation contractor—a company director and a senior engineering consultant—were hooded with black cloth and escorted by police back to their private residences in Yuen Long and Ma On Shan on Thursday as officers continued gathering evidence.
The 52-year-old director was taken from custody still wearing pajamas and slippers when police brought him to his village house in Yuen Long for a search, while the 68-year-old consultant, who had authority to sign off on the building works, was similarly hooded and returned to his flat in Ma On Shan.
Both men, along with another director, remain in custody on suspicion of manslaughter in connection with the catastrophic fire that has claimed dozens of lives.
