After learning of the tragedy only upon completing the final training yesterday, the deeply affected club moved quickly to request permission from the Asian Football Confederation to wear black armbands and hold a pre-match minute’s silence.
Both requests were granted.
As a proud community-rooted team, TPFC stressed the need to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the neighborhood during this difficult time.
Players and staff expressed profound sadness over the loss of life and wished strength to the injured and the bereaved families.
The club also extended heartfelt thanks to the tireless firefighters who battled the flames for days, to residents who supported one another, and to both the AFC and opponents FC MacArthur for their understanding and solidarity across borders.
The statement closed with a simple prayer: May heaven bless Tai Po and Hong Kong.
