The group, aged 9 to 67, began suffering abdominal pain, vomiting, fever and diarrhea between seven and 52 hours after the meal. Seven sought medical help, and two were admitted to hospital, though all are now stable.
Initial findings point to siu mei dishes such as barbecued pork and rice and barbecued pork with chicken and rice prepared on the ground-floor premises on Tso Kung Street.
Inspectors from the Centre for Food Safety and Environmental Hygiene Branch immediately ordered the shop to stop selling the affected items, carry out thorough cleaning and disinfection, and retrain staff on food safety.
The Centre for Health Protection urged the public to maintain strict hygiene when handling and eating food, while tests on samples taken from the restaurant continue as part of the ongoing joint investigation.
