A 46-year-old police officer appeared in Kowloon City Magistrates’ Court on Friday after being charged with dangerous driving in connection with a May incident that claimed the life of a 60-year-old Vietnamese man in Mong Kok.

The defendant is accused of driving a government vehicle without due care on Nathan Road southbound at its junction with Prince Edward Road West on May 29, 2025, when the car struck the pedestrian and dragged him underneath.
The victim was rushed to the hospital but later died from his injuries.
No plea was entered at the brief hearing. Magistrate Byron Tsang Chun-yiu granted the prosecution’s request to adjourn the case until January 29 next year for further investigation.
The defendant was released on HK$10,000 cash bail with the condition that he reside at his reported address.
