Hong Kong has launched its first smart catering robot system on Sunday, thanks to a collaboration between Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK), the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD), and China Resources Enterprise Property Investment Company (CREP).
Officially named the "Hey Food Smart Catering Robot," the system applies AI technology to local food and beverage retail scenarios and prepares and dispenses hot meals around the clock, fully automating the ordering and serving process.
The system is launched in Hong Kong by CREP, integrating innovative technological solutions from the Mainland with local business expertise.
InvestHK Director-General Alpha Lau Hai-suen said the project reflects Hong Kong's commitment to promoting AI and smart retail, highlighting the importance of cross-departmental collaboration in ensuring both innovation and food safety.
FEHD Director Donald Ng Man-kit noted the department's support in guiding the project through legal and hygiene requirements, aiming to bring more diverse dining experiences to the city.
CREP Deputy General Manager Zhang Linjun emphasized the robot's potential to offer convenient meal options across Hong Kong, especially in remote or high-traffic areas.
