A wellness parlor owner in Sham Shui Po has spent the past half-year turning Nam Cheong Street into a nonstop soundstage of thumping music and piercing whistle dances, insisting she is a divinely chosen savior warding off a deadly plague predicted for 2025, while furious upstairs residents say the racket has ruined homework, naps, and sleep.

The middle-aged woman, who runs a ground-floor massage shop offering acupressure, ear cleaning, foot trimming, and cupping near the corner of Nam Cheong Street and Yee Kuk Street, had been a friendly fixture for three or four years.
Then, around mid-year, her routine changed dramatically. From 10am to 9pm, she cranks high-fidelity speakers inside the store, steps onto the pavement swinging wind chimes, and unleashes shrill whistle bursts skyward in what neighbors describe as an eerie, swaying ritual.
Residents report the noise ricocheting between Lai Chi Kok Road and Hoi Pa Street, with the most intense episodes every ten to fifteen minutes.
Upstairs tenants feel their floors vibrate from late-night bass, and parents complain that children cannot concentrate on schoolwork or rest.
One mother said her daughter’s afternoon naps vanished entirely; another household of students admitted defeat in revising for exams. Several called police and lodged formal complaints, only to see the woman pause briefly before resuming.
When confronted by Sing Tao Probe reporters, the owner declared herself a person of heavenly mandate, warning that countless lives will perish in 2025 unless she intervenes.
She described her whistle choreography as a plea to the skies to dissolve impending calamity and refused further explanation, abruptly lowering the metal shutter.
Police from Sham Shui Po District visited the premises, issued a verbal warning, and promised ongoing monitoring.
Neighbors noted an immediate, if tentative, drop in volume following the intervention and media attention, though many remain skeptical the performance has ended for good.
