With 200 torchbearers carrying the flame across the four host cities for the 15th National Games relay, Sino Group chairman Daryl Ng Win-kong expressed that he was "greatly honored" to participate as one of the Hong Kong representatives.
Among the 50 torchbearers from various sectors in the city, Ng boarded an open-top bus where he passed the torch to Citybus Managing Director William Chung Chak-man before the torch entered its final leg into Kai Tak Sports Park.
"Being a torchbearer for the National Games is a tremendous honor," Ng stated, expressing gratitude to both the central government and the Hong Kong SAR government for the opportunity.
He also thanked the organizing committee for their preparation, as well as the cheering crowds and colleagues who lined the route along the iconic Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade.
Describing the event as a "historic moment" for the city, he wished a resounding success for the National Games and hoped that Hong Kong athletes would achieve great results.
Ng remarked that the flame, extracted from combustible ice lying at depths exceeding 1,500 meters, not only establishes a new milestone but also underscores China's technological progress and dedication to clean energy.
