Police received a report from the crewman around 6pm stating he had been injured by an iron pole aboard the vessel.
The victim sustained head injuries and was in semi-conscious condition when transported to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital. He later regained consciousness.
Initial investigation suggests a approximately 10-meter-long iron pole on the fishing boat suddenly broke, with about four meters of the pole falling and striking the man.
The case has been classified as accidental injury.
