The letters, sent to the victims’ homes, workplaces, schools, and churches between October 15 and 22, contained intimidating messages. The content creators, who had previously collaborated on lifestyle videos, reportedly feared for their safety.
Police seized matching stamps, razor blades, double-sided tape, and gloves from one suspect, believed to have been used to produce the letters. The arrested include students, workers, and self-employed individuals. Two remain in custody, while the others were released on bail.
According to police sources, the “White Card Alliance” (“White Card” means stupid people in Cantonese) has a history of making controversial videos and engaging in harassment and indecent acts in public and on public transport. Authorities have noted an escalation in the group’s activities in recent weeks.
Officials urged content creators to respect the law and warned that online platforms are not beyond legal jurisdiction. Teenagers were also cautioned against imitating illegal behavior.
In Hong Kong, criminal intimidation carries a maximum sentence of five years’ imprisonment, while disorderly conduct in public places carries up to one year in jail and a HK$5,000 fine.
