During the event, individuals experiencing homelessness shared their personal backgrounds and daily lives, helping attendees gain a deeper understanding of the community.
It was revealed that the average age of homeless individuals is 63 or above, while the average duration of homelessness is 46 months. More than 60 percent of the group lives in Kowloon West.
Social Welfare Department statistics show there were 672 registered homeless individuals in Hong Kong last year.
However, the vast majority remain unregistered with the government, with the estimated number reaching around 200,000. They typically reside in places such as makeshift rooftop dwellings, staircases, and building fire escape routes.
The organization suggested that authorities increase subsidized hostel placements and formulate homeless-friendly policies.
The event also included interactive booths, human library sessions, and guided community tours.
According to ImpactHK's website, the organization aims to enhance the inclusivity of the city, fostering a community where everyone has a safe place to call home and cares for their neighbor.
"Our mission is to work with people experiencing homelessness to help them settle into safe homes, restore their mental and physical well-being, build their self-esteem and social capital, and discover their purpose, " it said.
