Returning from “Hong Kong Week 2025@Seoul”, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Rosanna Law Shuk-pui has hailed the event as a powerful demonstration of the city's dynamic and vibrant spirit.
In a social media post on Sunday(Sep 28), Law highlighted that the visit proceeded on schedule just after the departure of Super Typhoon Ragasa, showcasing Hong Kong's operational efficiency in handling extreme weather.
She further emphasized the diverse range of programs featured at the event, including the Hong Kong Ballet's “Romeo + Juliet,” a Hong Kong comics exhibition, and the "LOCAL POWER 2025 Hong Kong Fashion in Seoul" held in the trendy Seongsu-dong district.
Additionally, Law expressed gratitude for the participation and support of both established and emerging artists, adding that the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) had worked tirelessly to present a "lively, colourful, and hospitable" post-pandemic Hong Kong to Korea audiences.
"The participating artists showed passion for their craft " she remarked, emphasizing their shared goal of bringing Hong Kong’s comics to the global stage.
Law also described the fashion show as a delightful surprise, featuring a stunning array of 70 outfits from young designers in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
She praised the creative blend of erhu performances of classic film scores with AI-generated visuals of Hong Kong's landscapes.
Highlighting the mix of creativity and commercial potential of the designs, she expressed interest in wearing the creations one day.
The cultural promotion comes amid strong tourism growth from Korea, with Law reporting that 850,000 travelers from Korea visited Hong Kong last year– a 109 percent increase compared to the previous year.
With a continued double-digit growth this year, Law affirmed the government’s commitment to promote more attractive events and tourist attractions to Korean Tourists.
