After Super Typhoon Ragasa was downgraded to the No. 8 Southeast Gale or Storm Signal, authorities reported a trail of damage including 896 fallen trees and 90 storm-related injuries in the city.
As of 5pm today, the government’s 1823 Call Centre, Fire Service Department, and Leisure and Cultural Services Department have received 498, 393 and five reports of falling trees respectively.
According to the Civil Engineering and Development Department, there were four landslide incidents in Sai Ying Pun, Tuen Mun, and Stanley as of 5pm, two of which involved tree collapses that damaged slopes and retaining walls.
The department confirmed that personnel have been arranged to follow up on these incidents.
Additionally, the Drainage Services Department recorded 19 reports of flooding across various areas.
Notably, 90 citizens—including 53 men and 37 women—received treatment for injuries at the Accident and Emergency Departments of public hospitals during the storm, according to the Hospital Authority.
In response to the adverse weather conditions, the Home Affairs Department has opened 50 temporary shelters across the city, accommodating a total of 869 individuals as of 3pm.
