The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) welcomes the Policy Address delivered by Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu on Wednesday (Sep 17).
HKTDC chairman Frederick Ma Si-hang recognized the diverse set of measures, including the creation of the task force on supporting mainland Enterprises in going global, which will be steered by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development.
Amid significant changes in international trade and supply chains, he stated that the HKTDC will leverage its network of 51 offices in the mainland and overseas, as well as its years of experience in business matching through conferences and exhibitions.
Meanwhile, Ma expressed satisfaction that the Government and HKTDC will bolster IP financing at the upcoming Business of IP Asia Forum to promote Hong Kong as a regional IP trading centre.
He also praised the government’s commitment to fostering Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and e-commerce, citing the proposed injection of HK$1.43 billion into the BUD Fund and its support for the Hong Kong Shopping Festival.
The festival, which operates under the HKTDC’s E-Commerce Express, covers the mainland and ASEAN e-commerce markets.
“The HKTDC has been committed in helping SMEs embrace innovation and technology and enhance their competitiveness in key areas, such as digital transformation and supply chain solutions,” Ma said.
Additionally, the HKTDC pledges to continue aligning with overall national development and government policy to support SMEs, and to proactively attract mainland enterprises to use Hong Kong as a platform to go global.
