Emergency services were called at around 4am after residents reported a burning smell from a flat. Firefighters forced their way into the unit and extinguished the blaze, while security staff found the man lying on the pavement below. He was certified dead at the scene.
A suicide note was recovered, with the exact cause of death to be confirmed by post-mortem examination.
Initial investigations suggest the case may be linked to a family property dispute.
The flat, once owned by Chan’s father, had been sold years earlier to the man’s half-brother, who recently sought to reclaim it through a court order. A hearing was scheduled for today, but Chan failed to appear.

Police believe Chan may have set the blaze before leaping to his death, fearing he would lose the case.
As no natural cause for the fire was found, the incident has been classified as arson.
Both police and fire services are continuing their investigation.
