New Territories South Regional police joined forces with immigration department on Wednesday in a major operation against illegal workers, arresting 29 individuals across multiple districts.
The cross-department operation, codenamed "CHAMPION" and "LANDMASTER," involved officers from Kwai Tsing, Tsuen Wan, Shatin, Lantau, and Airport districts conducting coordinated raids based on intelligence and thorough investigations.
Those detained included 26 mainland Chinese (10 men and 16 women) and 3 local residents (2 men and 1 woman) aged between 22 and 67. Arrests were made on suspicion of various offenses including overstaying, breach of stay conditions, employ person not lawfully employable, and using forged documents.
In Tsuen Wan district alone, 15 mainland women were apprehended by the Police Tactical Unit and Tsuen Wan District Special Duty Squad working with immigration officials for allegedly violating their stay conditions.
