Police and immigration Department arrested 20 individuals during a joint operation targeting illegal workers in East Kowloon on Monday. Codenamed "CHAMPION," the operation involved multiple units including the East Kowloon Regional Police Tactical Unit, Emergency Unit, and officers from Wong Tai Sin, Sau Mau Ping, Kwun Tong, and Tseung Kwan O districts.
Those detained included 10 mainland Chinese men, one foreign male, three local men, three local women, and three mainland Chinese women aged between 19 and 68. Arrests were made on suspicion of "to be employer of a person who is not lawfully employable," "breach of stay conditions," and "aiding and abetting others in breaching stay conditions."
All arrested individuals remain in custody for investigation, with some cases subsequently transferred to relevant departments for follow-up action.
