According to a netizen on Threads, the cat—affectionately known as the “Cat Manager” of a pharmacy on Man Yue Street—was allegedly taken by a woman on August 16.
The post condemned the act as shameful and urged the immediate return of the pet.
The incident has sparked discussion among local residents familiar with the cat, many of whom have joined calls for vigilance and shared efforts to locate the missing animal.
Wong, the pharmacy owner, said the cat vanished within just five minutes after he stepped out for breakfast on Saturday, August 16. He suspects theft, noting the cat rarely strays far on its own.
Wong recalled that a woman around 30 years old had been playing with the cat shortly before it went missing, though he did not take particular notice of her at the time.
Having raised the cat for 13 to 14 years, Wong described it as gentle and sociable.
He has not filed a police report and expressed a bittersweet hope that, if indeed taken, the cat is now with someone who will love and care for him properly.
