AC Milan edge Liverpool 4-2 in thrilling Hong Kong friendly

AC Milan claimed a 4-2 victory over Liverpool in an action-packed preseason clash at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Sports Park on Saturday. Despite its friendly status, both teams delivered relentless intensity, combining for six goals in front of a vibrant crowd.  

First half fireworks

AC Milan struck first in the 10th minute through a blistering counterattack. Forward Rafael Leão surged down the left flank before rifling home from a tight angle. Liverpool responded in the 25th minute when midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai curled a stunning effort into the top-right corner from the edge of the box, leveling the score at 1-1 heading into halftime.  

Rossoneri ramp up pressure

Milan restored their lead six minutes after the restart. Leão turned provider, whipping in a cross from the left for Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who evaded defenders in the box to slot home (51’). The Italian giants extended their advantage eight minutes later as right-winger Alexis Saelemaekers raced to the byline and cut back for Noah Okafor, who smashed in from close range (59’).  

Late drama seals it

Liverpool fought back in stoppage time, with Cody Gakpo nodding in a pinpoint cross from Ibrahima Konaté at the near post (90+2’). But any hope of a comeback vanished seconds before the final whistle when Kostas Tsimikas’s errant backpass gifted Okafor a simple finish into an empty net, sealing Milan’s 4-2 triumph.
