Seven outstanding local student-athletes in para table tennis, sailing, athletics, and fencing were admitted to the University of Hong Kong through its Top Athletes Direct Admission Scheme, receiving scholarships totaling HK$2.1 million.

Para Table Tennis
Among them is para table tennis player Pang Wing-ka, who won a bronze medal in the women’s singles Class 6 event at the Hangzhou Asian Para Games 2023 and a silver medal in the same category at the 2023 World Abilitysport Games. She will begin her undergraduate studies in Social Sciences.
Sailing
Tiffany Mak Hiu-tung, a member of the 29er Hong Kong team, has achieved remarkable success in international sailing, including first place in the U17 class at the 2023 29er EuroCup Poland. She looks forward to exploring her career potential within the field of business while continuing her sailing career.
Track, field and fencing
Also joining the Business Administration program are track and field competitors Kwok Chun-ting, Jane Christa Ming Suet Karlsson, and Wesley Leung Ching-hang.
Fencer Wong Shun-yat is set to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology, while long jumper Jia Wai-yin will commence her studies in the Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences.
HKU welcomes new student-athletes
Bennett Yim Chi-kin, Director of Undergraduate Admissions and International Student Exchange, welcomed the new students.
"HKU remains committed to providing the necessary support to help them realize their academic aspirations while excelling in the international sports arena," he said.
Scheme and scholarship aims to attract top sporting talent
The direct admission scheme, launched in the 2022/23 academic year, aims to recruit exceptional athletes with sporting achievements. Additionally, the “HKU Lee Shau Kee Top Athletes Scholarship” was established in 2022, and a total of 27 top athletes have received the award since its inception.
