The "Brave Mum's Home for Stray Cats and Dogs," established eight years ago, discovered yesterday (Jul 16) that unidentified individuals had created a fraudulent website using the organization's images and branding to deceive compassionate donors.
The charity's representatives explained that scammers had replicated their emotional appeals for help, posting distressing images of stray animals accompanied by misleading captions designed to trigger urgent donations.
These fabricated pleas included dramatic statements about the animals' desperate circumstances. Reports indicate this fraudulent activity has affected at least three other animal shelters in recent weeks.
Authorities are currently investigating the case after the organization's founder filed a formal report at the Ta Kwu Ling Police Station this morning.
In an official statement released through social media, the charity confirmed they had alerted police about the unauthorized use of their materials for fundraising purposes and encouraged any affected donors to contact authorities.
The organization's volunteers emphasized the importance of thorough verification before making donations.
