Hong Kong's transport network will experience temporary adjustments on Monday morning as the Shandong aircraft carrier and its accompanying fleet depart from Victoria Harbour.
The Transport Department announced nine outlying island ferry routes will be suspended between 10am and 12noon to facilitate the naval movement.
Affected routes include services connecting Central to outlying islands such as Cheung Chau, Mui Wo, Peng Chau, and Discovery Bay, along with Hong Kong Island's Aberdeen to outlying island routes. The suspension also impacts the Ma Wan to Central crossing.
To mitigate inconvenience, ferry operators will provide complimentary special shuttle services with four round-trip sailings between outlying islands and Tsuen Wan West Pier. These temporary routes will serve passengers from Cheung Chau, Peng Chau, Yung Shue Wan, and Discovery Bay.
Complementary measures include enhanced bus services for Mui Wo, Ma Wan, and Discovery Bay residents.
The MTR Corporation, meanwhile, will position standby trains on the Tung Chung and Tuen Ma lines during the morning period to accommodate potential passenger surges.
The naval fleet's departure follows its five-day visit that included public tours and cultural exchanges.
Commuters are advised to check the Transport Department's latest announcements and allow extra travel time tomorrow morning.
