The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has introduced the world's first Integrated Surveying Programme, which has achieved full professional accreditation across all six major surveying disciplines, thereby setting a new global standard for property and construction education.
The innovative program, offered by HKU's Department of Real Estate and Construction, has recently obtained accreditation from the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) in Land Surveying, completing its full recognition across all required areas. Previously, the program had been accredited in five other core areas: General Practice, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Planning and Development, and Property & Facility Management.
The program has sparked considerable interest, with recent admission information sessions drawing an overwhelming response. University officials have noted an increase in inquiries from international students, which reflects the program's global appeal.
Professor Chau Kwong-wing, Chair Professor at HKU's Department of Real Estate and Construction, mentioned that this comprehensive accreditation marks a significant milestone for the university.
Associate Professor Isabelle Chan highlighted that their curriculum effectively combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications, focusing on professional development to prepare future industry leaders and contribute significantly to Hong Kong's land development and infrastructure projects.
